Amazing, wonderful story. Best of all, it's not just the warm bread. It's the warm smiles, the warm hugs, the concern and love shown by those involved. The overwhelming sadness of war is softened somewhat when the light of caring and "small miracles" break through. My heart goes out to the bakers and the people they are serving. Thank you for this sweet glimpse of Ukraine's strong people.

I have visited many more places during this month so I will do my best to tell their stories too!

A wonderful and heartwarming (also: rightfully sobering) read. I look forward to reading these stories Felicity.

Felicity the prople you write about here are part of a proud tradition of people who defend their homeland as it’s all they have. More power to their arms and backs. When you are defending your home land nothing could be more important.

Power to those people! All I could think of.. Ukraine is the bread basket of Europe.. How fitting it is that this is bread.. of the people for the people! And… oh that bread looks sooo delicious! 🌷

It is a great recipe - you can make it at home, it’s on the Bake for Ukraine website - I will post a link one day when I remember!

It is SO wonderful and amazing to see all the Ukrainian people caring about-and-for one another. My father’s parents came to the US from Odesa, and I am proud to have Ukrainian blood and ties in my family! Americans, would we stand together against a threat to Our existence...or would we just continue to name call & lie about elections???

I really am not sure anymore. And THAT is sad...

Odesa is a wonderful city. And I think all of us ask if we would ever have been as brave as Ukrainians …

I attempted to donate $65 to your efforts. The charge showed up as $87.64. I subsequently cancelled my donation.

I don’t have anything to do with the charging process but I am thinking that is the US dollar value of the £65 subscription? Sorry if it was unclear.

Please post a picture of the top of the loaf so we can see the symbol of the Ukrainian Republic and tell us if the bread truck is baking off 100 loaves or #? Per day. How do they power their ovens? More pics too please? The bread basket metaphor is so encompassing so global! I loved your prose.

More details will come, promise! We haven’t started using the truck yet as it only just reached Odesa to be painted - plus the right location to park it

Thank you Felicity. I was recently introduced to the idea that some of us here in human-suits are infused with angelic energy. Seems to me that is an apt description for you! Looking forward to hearing more and sending loving thoughts and energy to all of you.

I don’t know about angelic… but I am very energised by the courage of the Ukrainians I meet here!

Thank you so much for this, Felicity - courage and practicality united in bread! It is so good to know about something so very positive happening in the fog of the war. Bread is the stuff of life ...

I, too, look forward to the stories of the miracle of the mobile bakery.
